REDUCE MY RISK OF FALLS:
Improving your ability to resist changes in your centre of mass while walking, standing or transferring weight is a trainable skill. At times, we have to start with improving your strength to resist the forces of gravity. From there, we start to challenge your ability to resist gravity in a variety of day to day positions/actions.
We often use a bottom up approach, meaning we start by looking at the health and fitness of your feet. Then we look at your ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, spine, and arms. We have been taught to dampen the sensors of our feet and reduce the need of our foot muscles to contract. This leads to weak feet and sensitive pressure sensors. This can impair your balance and cause unnecessary stress on your tissues and joints. We will show you how to reverse this and retrain your feet to walk again.
